New NNPHI phPIN QI Webinar Recording Now Available!

Wednesday, June 7, 2017- In case you missed it, the National Network of Public Health Institutes' Public Health Performance Improvement Network (phPIN) webinar titled "Using QI Impact Boards to Communicate Successes in Continuous Quality Improvement" was recorded and can now be viewed online. Presenters Christina Hayes and Kristin Preihs from Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center in Illinois illustrated how agencies can use QI impact boards to communicate QI efforts and how these boards are an effective tool to help build a culture of continuous QI. Watch the recorded webinar to learn how to efficiently and effectively communicate QI successes internally and to external partners and how Lake County transitioned from using storyboards to infographics to create a simpler. more relatable, and more visually appealing communication tool.

New PHQIX Drawing Begins!

Thursday, June 1, 2017 - Submit a new QI initiative by Monday, July 31, 2017, to receive one of our great prizes! You must register on PHQIX to submit a QI initiative. By submitting your QI initiative on PHQIX, you will receive many benefits, including an American Medical Association-style citation on phqix.org that you and others can reference. Your QI initiative can help inform similar initiatives being conducted by other PHQIX community members and can contribute to the evolving science of public health QI. New QI Spotlight Article!

Thursday, May 18, 2017 - Check out our latest QI Spotlight article, QI at Work: Strategies to Increase Immunization Rates among Children and Adolescents. Although the value of immunizations is unquestionable among public health and medical practitioners, communities across the country continue to experience challenges with achieving the Healthy People 2020 goals for age-appropriate vaccination levels. This article, authored by PHQIX Expert Panel member Kusuma Madamala, highlights themes across six QI projects on PHQIX that have a specific aim statement related to increasing immunization rates and/or reducing missed opportunities to vaccinate children and adolescents. This QI Spotlight article also provides documentation that may help health departments that are seeking to improve vaccination levels among children and adolescents, and it includes links to the PHQIX submissions for those who would like additional information. Register for NACCHO MAPP Training by May 12th!

Wednesday, May 10, 2017 - The National Association of County & City Health Officials (NACCHO), in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Health Resources and Services Administration, will be conducting a Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships (MAPP) training in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on June 15 and 16, 2017, co-locating with the Public Health Improvement Training (PHIT). MAPP is a community-owned strategic planning process that results in a community health assessment and community health improvement plan. MAPP works as a framework to help communities prioritize public health issues, identify resources for addressing them, and take action. MAPP partnerships consist of a wide array of community partners from across sectors, working together to improve population health. Visit www.naccho.org/mapp to register by May 12. Wednesday, May 3, 2017 - The 2017 Public Health Improvement Training (PHIT): Advancing Performance in Agencies, Systems and Communities will be held June 13th & 14th in Albuquerque, New Mexico. PHIT offers hands-on training workshops and networking opportunities to support health professionals in taking action on public health performance improvement. Join PHIT participants in a wealth of interactive learning, skills-building, and discussion groups designed for a variety of experience levels. Focus areas will include performance management, accreditation, quality improvement, facilitation, health assessment and improvement planning and strategic planning. Learn more and register here.

Spring 2017 Open Forum Highlights!

Wednesday, April 26, 2017 - PHQIX joined more than 200 public health professionals at the NNPHI Spring 2017 Open Forum for Quality Improvement in Public Health on April 20 and 21 in New Orleans, Louisiana. We had a great time sharing PHQIX with new Open Forum attendees and learning about ongoing QI projects/future PHQIX submissions from conference participants. PHQIX was honored to offer a scholarship to attend the conference to drawing winner, Stephanie Lenartz, from the Minnesota Department of Health, and to give away a Visa gift card to Nick Van Der Linden of the Florida Department of Health, as the winner of the new registered user raffle. Welcome to new PHQIX registered users who joined us since the Open Forum! We look forward to your participation in the PHQIX Community.
